The act of painting is fundamental to much of my work. It is where I started creating imagery and I still identify as a painter even though I have branched out into other creative genres.
At the root of almost all of my oeuvre is the concept of automatism. For me, it means letting the creativity flow without reason or logic interfering. In one sense I try to have my hand move faster than my eye. In another way, as one person put it, I try to get out of my own way.
Painting, along with drawing, is the most immediate of all processes I work with. Acrylics are my favored medium, the paints suit the quickness with which I work.
Another section is related to this one, Encaustics, that while it is still painting the encaustic process is entirely different.
