In the 1990s, I became interested in environmental installations and began to create my own. At first, just using the materials in the environment such as wood and stone, I secretly constructed Control #1 (no longer extant) in a woods not far from I worked at the time. Control #4 is a southwest iteration using commercially available sandstone and cholla wood. Stone Room #3 takes its inspiration from viewing platforms in Japanese Gardens. The focal point is an arrangement of three volcanic stones that refer to the Three Sister Volcanoes near Albuquerque, NM. 5 Sticks and 7 Sticks, created on the banks of Bear Creek near Gila, NM, are no longer extant. I also make more intimate sculptural pieces.
